Exploring the Good Part of the Storm

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning how to dance in the rain" ~ Vivian Greene.

Several times in life, we've all encountered storms. It can be in our academic life, our spiritual life, our relationship with others and even financially. During these times, we normally face two options: either to feel dejected and broken down by the situation OR to be optimistic and wait for the storm to end. But what we don't realize is the hidden third option; embrace your storm and live in it till it passes.

You know, they are called storms because they're strong and uncontrollable and to be able to embrace such takes a lot. Personally, I've experienced a lot of storms in life and I'm experiencing my strongest yet. It is as though everything is hitting from every angle in life yet, I hang on. I have learned that "what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger" and that there are some situations I should leave as they are because everything has a reason.

There are moments we can't take back, situations we can't control, feelings we don't understand and relationships we can't force.

The Prosperity Ark

There are so many things on earth that are beyond our control and the only thing we can do is wait. Wait to see how things go, wait to see the result of your waiting. But while waiting, time passes by. So what do you do with the time passing by? You'll make the most of it!

“I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.” – Louisa May Alcott

In this sense, I am Louisa. I am trying to be brave, I am trying to sail my ship in my storm, I am trying to dance in the rain that came with the storm. I am trying to be responsible for my choices and I have accepted that while there are things I may want, some things are out of my control and I can only hope that everything turns out beautifully. But this doesn't mean I would be miserable while hoping. I will make the most of my time, I will live every day like it's my last day alive, and I will embrace my choices and the storms that came with them.

The Prosperity Ark

Even though I know this is how it should be, I'm only human and can't hide how I feel deep down, I can't shut out the tiny voice that speaks to me every day, crying:

"Can we skip to the good part?"

  1. Glad I read this at the right moment, beautiful write up.
