"This isn't something to be worried about. It's just me telling you that you're just one step from what you really want."
It can be quite disconcerting when what you feel like you've worked so hard for and you are quite prepared for, still slips out from your hands. Words like "What was it all for?", "Was it worth it in the first place?" might be so tempting to say, but you know deep down there's more to that. Well, it pleases me to say, and I am sure it pleases you to hear that it doesn't mean you are not capable, or you were not meant to be there. Life has its ways of throwing hurdles at us, expecting us to just grow past it all.
When you feel like you're giving it your all and it still doesn't change anything, you are most times faced with two choices; to keep going or to believe that you can't continue and then, quit. If this is where you are, here are few things you can do before you make that big decision:
1. Chill: Yes chill. Now, you might wonder if you have to refrigerate yourself. No. In the Nigerian parlance, it means that you can feel like you're not doing enough yet and there's so much more you can do, but you don't want to end up at that stage where you can't keep going even if you want to. Take your time, do things that help you relax because it appears most times that you might just need enough rest so you can be at your optimum.
2. Evaluate the situation: Do not miss the big picture in front of you or that surrounding you. Retrace your steps, evaluate what you've done that has worked pretty well, the things you did that didn't bring the results you expected and find out other ways you could have gone about it.
Ask questions - Are there other things I could have channelled my energy into?
This step takes a lot of patience, but it's worth it. It's better you face the situation head-on than just walking away - you don't want to get into the wrong things again.
3. Seek advice: No man is an island. I have not heard of an award given to a person for succeeding alone or not requiring anything from anyone, the gift of men is one given to us to use as much as we can, talk to people who you think can help.
Sir Isaac Newton, the famous English scientist, once said, “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.”
Of course, why see only a hundred miles when you can see as far as a million miles?.
There are people who have walked past where you are now, seek advice from them, you can read books, read biographies and stories of how men have survived thus far, learn from their mistakes, gain insights into their journey.
There's just so much of this world waiting for you, don't just walk away because you feel it's tiring or because you feel you've given it your all, especially not without learning from the situation, life's journey is worth every effort you put into it, there are people out there who need to learn from you, gain insights, be inspired, you surely do not want to let them down.
