DR Philip O. Ozuah (M.D, Ph.D), a Nigerian by birth, hails from Nteje a town in Onyi, Anambra State. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Montefiore Medicine, the umbrella organization for Montefiore Health System and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, taking over from Dr Steven Safyer in November 2019.
Distinguished in all standards, he is a Professor of Paediatrics, Epidemiology and Public health. Professionally, he remains an award winning leader, physician and educator.
Dr Ozuah began his success journey in 1978 when he gained admission into the University of Ibadan to study Medicine and Surgery, proceeding to Montefiore in 1989 as a Paediatric intern and resident. He had his Masters' degree in education from the University of Southern California and got a PhD in Educational leadership and administration from University of Nebraska - Lincoln.
Dr Philip believes he is as much a teacher as he is a Doctor and he actively enjoys all aspects of Medicine; be it Paediatrics, Adult Medicine or Psychiatry. One of his life's greatest focuses is to eliminate disparities in healthcare. He was featured in the 2021 leaders magazine in which he said he views medicine as an instrument for social justice.
His passion and dedication towards his noble profession can be seen in the feats he has accomplished as the CEO of Montefiore, innovating new treatments, procedures and approach to patient care, improving the Health system in general.
Previously, he has served as Physician-in-Chief of Children's hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and as a Professor and university chairman of Paediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Well-known for his Philanthropic deeds, his action of donating a massive sum of one hundred thousand dollars to his alma-mater in 2022 created a ripple effect of both excitement and shock to the medical community in Nigeria. He has not stopped there as he has continuously granted scholarships to children ranging from the primary to the university level.

His efforts have been recognised both locally and internationally and currently, Dr Ozuah is a recipient of the 2003 APA Heifer's award, 2020 tribute to leadership award, 2023 free voice changing lives award, during the 17th annual American institute for stuttering (AIS) gala in New York and many more. He has also been recognized by the Modern healthcare magazine as one of the top 25 COOs in healthcare.
Just like every individual on the path to success, Dr Ozuah has experienced his fair share of setbacks ranging from racism to the inability to express himself clearly because of his constant stuttering. However, he refused to back down and today, Dr Philip Ozuah, remains a great source of motivation and encouragement to the younger generation of aspiring doctors and leaders.

He is happily married to his dear wife, Theresa Pinili Ozuah and their marriage is blessed with three children.
